Akon willing to still sign Chilli?
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Fri Dec 19, 2008 4:03 pm
Akon recently had an interview with Rap-Up, and opened up the possibility of still signing Ms. Chilli to his label.
Um as far as Chilli of TLC, there was definitely talks and negotiations to sign her. We never got a chance to officially sign her, you know. Um. Of course she has a lot of things that she's doin personaly now outside of music that she chose to focus on. But I think those conversations could definitely, we probably can have those conversations again in the future depending on where she wants to go with her career, but I think that's more of where Chilli's goin'.

CyberTLC Main Site may be shut down

Since TLC is no longer signed to ANY label as a group, I've been contacted by Sony/BMG stating that they will be shutting down the site.
I spoke with T-Boz who confirmed that, in fact, TLC has no record deal for the group.
This does NOT in any way affect the CyberTLC Forums. I will try to put up a redirect on the www.cybertlcworld.net page which takes you directly to the forums. That means that all photos, lyrics, and other material located at www.cybertlcworld.net will no longer be accessible (unless something changes).
I'll try to add the lyrics and some other items to the forums and make it the new CyberTLC home.
Stay tuned for more details...

"Someday" Lyrics - T-Boz
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:39 pm

Someday, someday Someday, someday Someday, someday Someday, someday
See I know a place Where nobody's gonna look at my face And think about all the things that you hate We better get it right before it's too late (it's not too late) Cuz we'll run out of time You could spend your whole life searchin' and find That you'll be broken, if you open your mind The light of the faith is in you see but I'm blind (yeah)
Bridge: And I know that the road gets hard You come in with smiles and then you're leavin with scars You look for the light But you are left in the dark If you miss the clouds then you're still with the stars You can see better days
Chorus: Someday I hope the world can be a better place Someday We can always stick together no matter the race Someday I wish everything in life would be OK Someday, someday Someday, someday
Sometimes in life We get more than what we would like It's easy to run Instead of standin' and fight But you're gonna get there You're gon' be alright Cuz you'll never know Just show love wherever you go You're gonna reap whatever you sew Be careful of the flowers you grow (ohhh)
Bridge
Chorus
When you're down it seems Nobody cares at all But you can always get up And dust yourself back off You can't walk before you crawl And if you ever happen to fall Remember I'll be there whenever you call
Chorus
Oooh oh Oooh oh oh oh
Someday, someday Someday, someday
Someday Someday
Someday, someday Someday Someday, someday

T-Boz Interview with Essence.com (House, etc.)
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Fri Dec 12, 2008 5:07 pm

T-Boz s doing some damage control with other media outlets as well and denying that her house is being foreclosed upon. She gives a few more details in the interview, claiming that the house was put into her name without her knowing during her marriage to Mack 10.
ESSENCE.COM: We need more T-Boz sightings! The last time we saw you was in Times Square during a taping of Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” raising money for a charity. How have you been?
T-BOZ: I’m doing great. I’m healthy and happy. And I love raising awareness and money for kids. The show was interesting and I loved experiencing new things, but I wouldn’t do it again.
ESSENCE.COM: And how’s motherhood treating you?
T-BOZ: Wonderful. My daughter, Chase Anela, is 8 years old, and she’s the sweetest thing and makes me the happiest. She makes me breakfast in bed. She’ll make me scrambled eggs or oatmeal in the microwave and serve it to me. She’s my world.
ESSENCE.COM: (Laughs.) That is so sweet! Well, there have been reports that a Georgia property of yours is going into foreclosure. Is that true?
T-BOZ: No, I’m not homeless. During my last marriage [to Mack 10], I had a bunch of things that were put in my name. If one of those properties is going into foreclosure then I don’t know. Although I’ve been divorced for five years, there are still a lot of things I’m dealing with on getting straight in that regard. All I know is that the house I live in with my daughter is not. When you pull up my name, my real house doesn’t show up because it’s not in my real name, because I enjoy my privacy and I’m not trying to have people be able to find me that easily.
ESSENCE.COM: There were also reports of you losing a home in Houston?
T-BOZ: I’ve never owned a home in Houston. I closed a store in Houston, Chase’s Closet, where I sold girls and boys clothing from infants to 12 years. The store is named after my daughter, Chase. For now, I only have the online store (chasescloset.com).
ESSENCE.COM: That explains the locale. Did you see the photos they had of you that were allegedly in front of your Houston home begging for donations?
T-BOZ: It’s almost a waste of energy to give an explanation, but I’ll just say that the [blogosphere] loves to make up things. I remember that photo and it was on Craiglist.com showing me in front of some house with a sign claiming I was asking for donations. The only thing that irritated me was that they said that the proceeds would be donated to St. Jude’s [Children’s Research Hospital]. I can take people talking about me all day, but don’t use my name to make fun of sick children because that’s beyond low and sick. I was a sick kid for a long time, in and out of the hospital most of my life battling my sickle cell, so I don’t find anything funny about that kind of joking. Why would anyone target innocent sick children to make fun of? That’s not cool at all. I mean someone actually took the time to make up all this stuff and post a picture they had me in front of a house talking about I’d take donations to save my home. They even went so far as to have an address and I thought, I feel sorry for the person who lives there. I was there helping to raise funds for another charity.
ESSENCE.COM: How do you think the rumor began?
T-BOZ: Honestly, I don’t know. Ever since the news that TLC went bankrupt back in the day, I suppose everyone wants to believe that we are all struggling, but we’re doing fine. And if it were true, does it really matter? All those things are material. I get that negativity and violence sells, so people just stick to that formula. I’m just trying to live life and raise a little a girl that I was told I couldn’t have because of my sickle cell disease. I’m trying to do something that matters and make a difference with diseases. When I think about having my organs fail, my heartbeat stop and then begin again, this stuff is so trivial and I’m shocked that people believe everything they read because so much of it is far-fetched. My friends call me a miracle, and I am because there were so many times I almost didn’t make it when I was dealing with my sickness, but I’m doing so much better and I can only thank God.
ESSENCE.COM: Wow! So how do you combat the rumors?
T-BOZ: I let people say what they want to say. I really don’t care. At the end of the day, none of these people are ever going to pay my bills or help get me out the hospital bed when I’m sick. That stuff is a waste of energy to me. You have to wonder if some of these bloggers lives are so bad that you have to harp on other people’s problems and fabricate stories. If some of the things are true about people losing their homes, have some compassion because it could be any one of us one day. It’s so ridiculous that you have to ask what is going on and half the battle begins with us as Black folks. If we don’t sit together and make change and start to treat each other with more respect, then how are we going to help our President? He can’t do this alone, so we have to come together and do better.
There's also a small writeup on the website, as follows: http://essence.typepad.com/originalgoss ... s-the.html
T-Boz, who was once married to Mack 10, becomes the latest celeb to have her real estate problems put on public view. A sprawling, five-bedroom, nearly 10,000-sq. ft. house in her name is set to go on the auction block in January 2009 because she defaulted on the original principal of her mortgage (around $530,000), according to public records obtained by TMZ. This isn't the house the singer lives in with her daughter though and she told ESSENCE.com that this property is one of many things put in her name without her knowledge during her marriage.
She joins Fantasia, whose housing woes in Charlotte, N.C., were reported on this blog earlier this week, and Wyclef Jean, whose unfinished Miami Beach mansion is scheduled to be sold by Miami-Dade county officials today at 11 a.m. Wyclef bought the mansion in 2004, taking out a $1.9 million mortgage through a corporation he owns with several friends. But the property was never completed after a myriad of legal problems with the construction. Now his corporation owes $2.4 million, according to the judgment filed. Fantasia's home wasn't her main residence but is still in her name, the same as T-Boz.
And then there’s Damon Dash. In August, Eastern Savings Bank foreclosed on the $7.3 million mortgage for two of his trendy Tribeca condos where the monthly $78,504.26 bill went unpaid for months, according to the New York Daily News.
I’m sure there will be more in the months to come.

T-Boz's house is NOT facing foreclosure + Sick of rumors
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Thu Dec 11, 2008 2:04 pm

TMZ reported that T-Boz's house is being foreclosed. According to TMZ, her house is set to go to auction in January 2009.
http://www.tmz.com/2008/12/11/t-boz-lat ... d-f-close/
I contacted T-Boz to set the record straight. She seems upset at the rumors. I told her that we really DO care, and we aren't simply looking for a story.
Not trying to be funny but I can't keep giving stories for everyone everytime something crazy comes out. I've said it before and this is my last time, you can't believe everything you read. I'm fine and my real home is too! If your really concerned thank you. But I'm sure more lies will come out when my album comes, it's already starting so I won't keep putting energy into things that shouldn't require any of my precious time that can be used to focus on things that really matter. Take Care!
She also responded later with the following:
I appreciate that you all care and are concerned, it means a lot. I am fine I'm not loosing my home. From the horses mouth!
*UPDATE* http://www.perezhilton.com is also reporting on the story. Remember, it's not true!
Uh-oh, T-Boz is losing her 5-bedroom 10,000-sq. ft. house in Georgia to the government.
The former TLC member failed to make good on some mortgage payments (About $530,000), and so the house is being foreclosed and put up on the auction block in January.
Merry RecessMas!

Chilli: New show on VH1 or NOT?
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Fri Dec 05, 2008 8:06 pm

So we've seen on numerous sites that VH1 is making a reality show where Chilli searches for a man. According to Nathan, Chilli denied it. However, Sandra Rose is also reporting that not only is the show happening, but VH1 producers are looking for a 'friend' for Chilli to help her find a man! Apparently Chilli's real life friends aren't interesting enough?
According to SandraRose.com:
According to an inside source privy to the intimate details of Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas’ new show on VH1, Rashan Ali was one of hundreds of hopefuls who auditioned for the role as Chilli’s “best friend.” Ali is the midday host on Atlanta’s popular Hot 107.9.
You’re probably wondering why would anyone audition as Chilli’s best friend? I’m sure she has friends who could have easily fit the role. But apparently, none of Chilli’s friends appealed to the producers of the show.
So Rashan Ali was one of the hopefuls who received a private invite to audition for the role.
Rashan and Chilli go way back to the TLC days. Rashan was the personal assistant to the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, according to Rashan’s Myspace page.
This same scenario played itself out on the surprise hit show ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’. Word is, Kim Zolciak and Dwight Eubanks also auditioned for roles as NeNe Leakes’ best friend on the show.
The new show is produced by VH1 and the producers of American Idol. In the show, Chilli goes on a quest to find a new man — preferably one who isn’t married or gay.
Now I've personally spoken with Rashan back in the day......she used to live with Lisa in Burbank, California during taping for MTV's THE CUT. Sweet lady!

Track by Track review of EYE LEGACY
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Mon Nov 24, 2008 5:47 pm
As one of the biggest selling female groups of all time, TLC has no doubt left their mark on pop culture in the ‘90s. Their early beginnings of injecting the message of safe sex through music was one of the ways TLC managed to capture our attention and separate themselves from the pack. T-Boz, Left Eye and Chili maintained their position at the top of the charts throughout the group’s career. Sadly, tragedy struck with the untimely death of the group’s most flamboyant member, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, in early 2002 during a car accident in Honduras.
Left Eye’s death came as a shock not only to her group members and family, but also to the millions of fans the group had touched through their music. In addition to her work with TLC, Left Eye branched out on her own to collaborate on songs such as Donell Jones’ “U Know What’s Up”, Lil Kim’s “Not Tonight” and Melanie C of the Spice Girl’s “Never Be The Same Again”. She also released an album entitled Supernova [Arista] which never released in the US. In addition to this album, Left Eye has recorded many other unreleased songs, which where selectively chosen for her upcoming release Eye Legacy [Mass Appeal]. With the assistance of a few new producers, Left Eye’s legacy has been brought into illumination.
1. “Spread Your Wings” feat. Free (prod. The Heavy Weights and Marcus DL) – The very radio-friendly track is your typical inspirational song. Takes you back to the days of TLC circa 1996. Either Free was featured on the song for less than a millisecond, or she’s simply overshadowed on the song altogether.
2. “Rags 2 Riches” feat. Bobby Valentino (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – A very West Coast-type of flavor track. Perhaps K-Ci or JoJo would have been more fitting than Valentino.
3. “Let’s Just Do It” feat. TLC and Missy Elliott (prod. The Heavy Weights and Marcus DL) – This is hands-down the hottest single on the entire album, which was the only solitary track, which received an applause from attendees. Left Eye blended well on the electric organ and bass-heavy track.
4. “Block Party” feat. Lil Mama (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – This teeny-bopper track is reminiscent of a down South booty bass 69 Boyz – ish song. Despite the distracting musical backdrop, Lopes still rode the beat pretty well. Again, the featured artist is not very memorable.
5. “Universal Quest” feat. Esthero (prod. Andrew Lane, Panauh Kalayeh, Danny Keyz and Reigndrop Lopes) – Another bass-thumping track.
6. “Bounce” feat. Chamillionaire and Bone Crusher (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – The least-striking thus far. Chamillionaire was a good addition on the track. Probably could have done without Bone Crusher.
7. “Tampered With” feat. Wanye Morris of Boyz II Men (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – The mellow, story-telling beat featured Wanya on the hook. This one wasn’t too bad.
8. “Through The Pain” (Keep It Moving) feat. Ryan Toby and Claudette Ortiz (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – Another slower tempo track. Claudette complimented the track well
9. “Friends” (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – Sounded more like Left Eye was reciting poetry, rather than rapping.
10. “Neva Will Eye Eva” (prod. Andrew Lane, Reigndrop Lopes and Panauh Kalayeh) – Featured Left Eye’s younger sister, Reigndrop Lopes. The younger Lopes adds a bit of Rock to the album.
11. “Let Me Live” (prod. Surefire and Marcus DL) – Another audience favorite, this single seemed slightly more relevant to today’s music.
Bonus Tracks
“Let’s Just Do It” feat. TLC and Missy Elliott – Just as great as the original, this single will produce a pretty good video.
“Wild Out (Crank It)” feat. Reigndrop Lopes – Another club ready track. The type of song that gets you ready for a night out.
The Verdict
Since the songs on the posthumous album were pre-recorded in the late ‘90s, it was a little difficult to truly appreciate them with today’s music consisting of the return of the Auto-Tune and several other innovative sounds. A few of the tracks stood out among the rest, however Left Eye’s dedicated TLC fans will still be able to look beyond the melodies and appreciate the mark she has left behind that will continue to live on.

Eye Legacy news and disappointments
|
Poster: ChrisCyberTLC
Fri Nov 21, 2008 6:03 pm

A few fans attended the Eye Legacy listening party in NYC and provided the following details: -Raina did a 'rock production' on one of the tracks -The female voice you hear on "Wild Out" is one of Raina's friends from Atlanta. It is NOT Ciara. -At the end of "Wild Out" Raina has a rap on the final version. -Neva Will Eye Eva features Left Eye and Raina.
So not to be a total hater.......but c'mon. The TLC fans don't give a crap about Raina, and they definitely don't want to be hearing her on multiple songs. This is supposed to be about Left Eye, yet it seems Raina is throwing herself in there for some exposure, doesn't it?
For the most part we're getting a remixed Supernova with a few new tracks. Definitely not worth the hype that we're hearing....at least in my opinion. A few average artist collabos and some remixed songs that we've already heard is definitely not what I had hoped for. Lisa had Supernova mixed the way she wanted it - the songs sounded how SHE wanted them to on Supernova. Why bother remixing them they way someone ELSE wants them, for an album that we've all heard 90% of?
Maybe it's just me, but I'm dissapointed.

Chilli Interview with Essence Magazine
|
Poster: 5 Star General
Wed Nov 12, 2008 8:59 am

Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas will always be the spice of ATL's hip-pop trio TLC. Although she and fellow member T-Boz haven't been recording of late, they occasionally make appearances as a duo. Lately, the southern beauty has been keeping herself busy with her own handbag collection Bags by Chilli as well serving as a spokesmodel for a beauty skincare line. ESSENCE.com caught up with the petite, single mom to discuss her new business ventures, her relationship with Usher and Tameka, and why she isn't a home wrecker.
ESSENCE.COM: You're part of the best-selling female girl group of all time, and now you've entered the worlds of accessories and skincare.
CHILLI THOMAS: Thank you for acknowledging that because everyone always credits Destiny's Child as the biggest-selling female group, but it's just not true. You can't count album sales for each solo project collectively and come up with numbers. I love Destiny's Child, but thank you. My interest in handbags really stemmed from my love for my son. I have a girlfriend who takes pictures all the time. Whenever I think of taking photos, it represents work for me, but then I started thinking, I need more pictures of my son. When you're out and about, people want to see pictures of your kid and sometimes a wallet photo just isn't that great because it gets damaged and crumbled on the edges, but [now] you can put it on your bag. My bags are leather with nice color and textures.
ESSENCE.COM: So you're the face of Chamonix. Now, tell me, does Chilli from TLC ever get a pimple?
CHILLI: (Laughs.) Of course I do! I don't know any woman who doesn't, especially during that time of the month. Chamonix caters to all skin types. The owner is an Egyptian chemist and I explained to him that the biggest problem with Black skin is that we have hyperpigmentation issues. The vitamin C Serum for which I am the spokesmodel is so good for your face, it keeps the pores tight and firms the skin. My secret is drinking three liters of water a day. My skin is so much better now than when I was in my early twenties because I drank a lot of soda. As females, it's just important that we keep our faces clean because between makeup and the environment that's a lot for anyone's skin to handle.
ESSENCE.COM: So what's up with your new music?
CHILLI: I'm exploring my options and definitely the indie route. Nowadays, record labels want to sign you to these 360 deals, which means that they get a percentage of everything you do whether it's concerts, merchandising. Back in the day, that's how an artist made their money, but artists aren't selling albums like they used to. TLC had a lot of financial issues and I refuse to bind myself to a deal because I know better now.
ESSENCE.COM: It's been six years since we lost Left Eye. How are you and her family coping with her death?
CHILLI: I see her family every now and then. I still have my moments and probably always will. There's not a day that goes by that she doesn't cross my mind. When I do some interviews, I get so upset when people refer to me as "the former member of TLC." I am always and still am a part of TLC. We are forever no matter what. As long as T-Boz and I are living, we are keeping Left Eye's memory alive. Before Left Eye died we were in a much better place-we were recording "3D," our last album together. All of us were in the studio and it felt like old times. It felt so good; we were acting silly. I still remember when she and I were playing phone tag, and I was trying to get in touch with her while she was in Honduras, and then I received the worst phone call that I could ever receive. But I'm glad that we did get a chance to resolve a lot of the issues we had with one another. I only watched the VH1 documentary special about Left Eye one time. It was almost disturbing to me. Missy [Elliot] told me she felt kind of weird watching that. If anyone knew Lisa, she would have wanted everyone to see that documentary. It was deep.
ESSENCE.COM: Throughout the blogosphere, folks speculated about whether you, Usher and Tameka communicate. Do you?
CHILLI: I don't have any contact with her. I have not spoken to her in years. There's no relationship at all between us. I haven't spoken to Usher, either. When people ask whether or not I think she is the reason we broke up, I have no clue what Usher was doing outside of our relationship. When we broke up, it was because it wasn't working out. I later found out there was some infidelity, but he never said who that woman or who those women were, because I'm sure it was more than one. Again, I heard things, but Tameka never crossed my mind. The first time I strolled across that [infamous] beach photo I thought somebody photoshopped that. I didn't believe it. I did wonder if she was one of the girls, but again, I never asked. My memory of her was that she was the stylist, because she dressed Usher and I for an event one time. Honestly, those are questions I never asked him, and I've distanced myself so much from him. We aren't communicating at all. We broke up, had conversation a few times maybe two years after we broke up, and it was a wrap. I think what keeps it alive at all is these [blogs] speculating whether we'd get back together.
ESSENCE.COM: There were rumors that you were a home wrecker and dating CNN's T.J. Holmes while he was married. Is that true?
CHILLI: No, let's clear this up right now. T.J. Holmes was divorced and had been divorced. It wasn't a situation where he was going through a divorce and still married. I would never date a man that is legally separated or tied to another woman. We dated, but it was brief. I'm a godly person and try to do all the things that God wants me to do. I have a conscience; I could never do that. Besides, I want to get married and present a healthy wonderful relationship for myself and my 11-year-old son.
ESSENCE.COM: Yes, we need to show our children examples of healthy relationships. Speaking of which, how has your relationship with your father blossomed since you reunited so many years ago?
CHILLI: Honestly, I have this weird relationship with my father. My mom painted a lot cooler picture of him than what is reality. I think in her own way she was trying to protect me and I thank her for that, but I had to find out for myself who he really is. I don't regret it because I think that every person in the world should know their parent and their background.

Poster: 5 Star General
Mon Nov 10, 2008 8:03 pm

Chris@CyberTLC contacted T-Boz about the supposed CraigsList sale, and here's what she had to say:
"It's ALL a lie... Y'all can't keep believing everything you read and hear. I don't even own a home in Houston and never have. I closed my store two months ago and kept the online store. I do not support the sale of anything and I am not saling anything. Do NOT support the sale. The person will be delt with accordingly. Thank you for your concern."
